Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena said yesterday disciplinary
action would be taken against the female teacher who climbed onto the
roof of the Royal College to protest against her transfer.
He said that such teachers were not suitable for the state service.
"That teacher has violated the norms of the public service and she must be punished for that," Minister Gunawardena said.
The
teacher had been transferred to a school less than one kilometer from
the Royal College due to her having served at the same school more than
eight years, the Minister said.
Minister Gunawardene said
the Education Ministry would take necessary action against all teachers
did not comply with transfer orders.
