The UNP Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe named A.J.M. Muzammil as the mayor for Colombo Municipal Council, a short while ago. Addresing a press briefing Wickremasinghe added that Titus Perera has been named the deputy mayor.
Three drown in Kelaniya River
Three persons have drowned in the Kelani river.
The victims are residents of the Kelaniya, Gonawala and Singaramulla areas.
Two of the three individuals who had gone to the river to have a bath last after noon had drowned.
The two victims are 19 and 29 years of age. Police stated that another individual who had arrived at the location to try and locate the bodies of the two victims too had drowned.
According to a communique issued by the Police Media Spokesperson all three bodies had been found by 8 a.m today.
The bodies are currently lying at the Ragama hospital morgue |
