Kolkata in the finals
Kolkata Knight Riders beat Delhi Daredevils by 18 runs on Tuesday to qualify for the finals of IPL cricket tournament for the first time in its five year history. Chasing a modest total of 163, Delhi Daredevils was restricted to 144 for 8 wickets in the first qualifier Played at Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium, Pune, on Tuesday.
David Warner got one of the worst decisions in the IPL from Billy Doctrove as both Delhi Daredevils were sent back to the pavilion within 24 runs. Warner played across the line and given out caught behind but the TV replayed showed the ball was nowhere near the bat.
Mahela Jayawardane and Naman Ojha add 59 runs in 47 balls for the third wicket before Jayawardane was stumped for 40 off 33 balls with 6 boundaries.
Right hander Luxmi Shukla blasted 24 off 11 balls to guide Kolkata Knight Riders for a modest 162 in 20 overs. Shukla was ably supported by Yousuf Pathan who slammed 40 in 21 balls with two sixes and 3 fours. Opening the innings, Gautham Gambhir hit power packed 32 off 16 balls with couple of sixes and three boundaries.
